Our people are our most valued asset and the bedrock of our business. Appt Corporation’s Managing Director, Atul Pathak, has his own People Promise displayed in every crew room in every restaurant. The People Promise outlines Atul’s personal commitment to the welfare, training and development of his over 3,500 and growing team.
At McDonald’s we hire people who put customers first. Once we have the people with the right attributes in place, we build on this through hospitality training. This includes scenario work where our staff put themselves into the shoes of different customer groups. Our ethos is that we should not just serve great food, but we should also be giving our customers a great experience.
Working at one of Appt Corporation’s McDonald’s restaurants means that you will be part of a close-knit organisation that embraces an honest and open culture. Atul’s open door policy means that any member of staff is able to visit, call or email to raise an issue directly with him. We are proud that our workforce is reflective of the communities in which we operate, and embrace equality and diversity.
Training and development
In September 2011, we opened a state-of-the-art training centre in Hanwell, with computer workstations and audio visual teaching aids for interactive training sessions, enabling staff to sit exams on-site in the presence of qualified invigilators.
The suite of qualifications available at the training centre includes Basic and Advanced Shift Management, making it possible for staff to gain a Level 3 Diploma in Shift Management, which is nationally recognised on the Qualification and Credit Framework. Staff can also study for a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Hospitality & Catering. The apprenticeship recognises job-specific skills acquired through workplace training, combined with GCSE-equivalent Maths and English.
Offering nationally recognised qualifications provides a different pathway for those who would like to work whilst learning. They can subsequently use these to build a rewarding career at McDonald’s, or use them in the future for other roles in the hospitality sector.
Celebrating achievement and rewarding success
We know that our staff contribute enormously to the success of the business and this is something that we value. At Appt Corporation, we host an annual Celebration Day to mark the company’s success and to recognise individual success. We also host regular team events throughout the year. Our award programme includes accolades such as ‘Employee of the Year’ for each restaurant, as well as awards for customer service and services to the community.
Employees also receive incentives of bonuses based on performance. A range of benefits are offered including an employee discount card, a stakeholder pension and a meal allowance. We also have a loyalty scheme for long service.

We have a variety of roles to suit the needs of the individual. We offer flexible working, opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications and to forge a career, plus numerous rewards and benefits.
What does it mean to be a Crew Member? The secret’s in the name. Join us and you’ll become part of a crew, or a team, that works together to provide the best quick service, family restaurant experience – by far.
If you’ve visited one of our restaurants before, you’ve probably got some idea of what’s involved in working here. But you might not realise the variety and scope of the role. There are three main areas of responsibility: Customer Service, Food Preparation and Cleanliness & Hygiene.
Our Crew Trainers lead areas, by providing coaching and direction. They work hard to identify barriers both to services and production, proactively taking remedial action when necessary to better the environment for customer and staff alike.
Crew Trainers work as an integral part of the restaurant by supporting all members of the team, from Crew Members all the way up to management.
Customer Care Assistant
As a Customer Care Assistant, think of yourself as the face of your restaurant. In a nutshell, you’ll deal with customers and make sure everything runs as it should in the customer areas. Activities include making children feel welcome, handing out balloons, looking after customers’ specific needs, keeping high standards of cleanliness in the dining area and toilets, and helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It’s your responsibility to establish and maintain positive communication with customers at all times and to keep your manager informed about customer satisfaction.
You may also take part in the planning and implementation of children’s parties, coffee mornings, children’s competitions and other special events organised by your restaurant.
