A new running club was officially launched by the Mayor of Ealing this week at Spikes Bridge Park, Southall.
Southall Running & Fitness Club, setup by Kelvin Walker, the Ealing Half Marathon Race Director and Jags Sanghera, a local resident, aims to improve participation levels in running and people’s overall health and fitness.
The club was one of the recipients of the 2nd Atul Pathak Community Awards.
Kelvin added: ” The amazing responses from Southall and especially our visits to local schools show what an incredible community we have. Jags is a great community champion and it has been rewarding to see the club develop under his guidance. And as a qualified running leader he can work alongside our other qualified leaders and he is especially good at making the lessons fun.”
The club, currently takes place on Tuesday evenings at Spikes Bridge Park, Southall, and already has more than 50 registered users and a regular weekly attendance of more than 25 people of all ages and abilities.
The free sessions are so popular, the club is looking to extend them to Southall Park and hope that one day Southall will have its own annual fun run and timed run event.
