An employee from McDonald’s restaurant in Finchley Lido has been selected to attend the company’s Annual General Meeting in Spain next month, to model the new management uniform which will be worn at the 2012 London Olympics.
Ria Konar, who has just been promoted to Second Assistant Manager at McDonald’s Finchley Lido, will travel to Alicante on an all-expenses paid trip to attend the meeting for McDonald’s senior management teams and franchisees from across the UK. The uniform that Ria will model has been designed by British designers Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway, and upcycling company, Worn Again. In a ground-breaking initiative for a UK company, the uniforms have been designed with the aim of making it 100% closed loop recyclable, where uniforms are recollected in restaurants, reprocessed into raw materials and made back into uniforms again.
Speaking about her upcoming trip to Spain, Ria said: “I’m extremely excited to have been chosen to model the new management uniform in Spain. I’ve recently been promoted so this opportunity is a cause for a double celebration particularly as the new uniform will be the first of its kind and will be worn by staff working at the McDonald’s Olympic Park restaurants.”
Atul Pathak, franchisee for the McDonald’s restaurant in Finchley Lido added: “I am delighted that Ria will be showcasing the new McDonald’s uniform which has been designed to be environmentally sustainable. We already invest in the training and development of staff through nationally recognised qualifications such as Apprenticeships, so it is great to add a new look which will further enhance employee pride.”
