Appt Corporation is an authorised franchisee of McDonald’s

Operating a business and being socially responsible are inextricably linked. We believe it is our duty to give something back to the communities served by our restaurants – after all, we would not exist without their support. It is for this reason we are involved with local and national community focussed initiatives and charities.

Atul Pathak Community Awards

The annual Atul Pathak Community Awards were designed to acknowledge and support the hard-working charities and community groups operating within the areas our restaurants serve. Winners receive funding for projects as well as a year-long partnership with Appt Corporation.

Our work within local communities includes:

Since 2003, we have organised an annual deep clean of an area served by one of our 43 restaurants. This has tackled litter, graffiti and dirt. In addition, each of our restaurants undertakes a litter patrol at least three times a day. During these patrols, staff pick up all litter – not just that generated by McDonald’s – within a 100-metre radius of these restaurants.

But we go further than just regular litter picking. Corporately, we try to minimise our impact on the environment – for instance making the move from plastic to paper straws – and locally we work with councillors, MPs, residents, police, and other stakeholders to rejuvenate and brighten up our neighbourhoods.

We believe in the value of education. Not only do we help our own staff increase their learning and qualifications, we also work alongside other organisations to offer support to the wider community. One of these groups is the London Education Business Partnership, who we assist in helping students gain real-life skills, offering them practical support like a chance to practice interview skills, and through mentorship and work experience schemes.

We allow a number of schools to use the facilities in our restaurants to support their courses on food technology and food safety. Students can see firsthand how we operate, which is extremely useful for their studies.

We also support schools by presenting at careers days helping students with interview skills and giving talks on different aspects of operating a business.

We also fund the Atul Pathak Scholarship and two Atul Pathak Bursaries for students attending the Claude Littner Business School at the University of West London.

Sports teams play a huge role in bringing our local communities together. They also offer a way for young people to stay fit, healthy, and develop skills that will help participants in all walks of life, including teamwork, leadership, and discipline.

We are proud to sponsor grassroots football teams by supplying kits or sports equipment. The teams we sponsor have grounds in close proximity to their respective restaurants.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families with children requiring long term hospital care, helping them to stay connected and maintain a sense of normal family life.

With your help, we have raised and donated more than £1,000,000 in the last ten years alone.

Next time you are at the counter in one of our restaurants and see a collection box, please remember that every penny counts towards helping RMHC.

Community groups

Charity begins at home and, as such, we welcome selected groups to host meetings at our staff training centre at Hanwell, free of charge. Please contact us for more information about this.

Our restaurants work with a number of local groups, supporting their efforts to help the most vulnerable people in our society.
