West London Business (WLB), the voice of business across West London, has today announced that Atul Pathak OBE, Managing Director of Appt Corporation, has accepted their invitation to become its West London Business Ambassador. Atul runs the UK’s largest McDonald’s franchise having grown from one restaurant in 2003 to 37 today, employing over 3,000 people. Appt Corp is also the second largest McDonald’s franchise in Europe.
In his new voluntary role as Ambassador, Atul will support the WLB Board in championing business. The role includes direct engagement to improve West London’s infrastructure, the local community and the environment to make it an even better place to do business.
Atul follows prestigious former WLB Ambassadors Carol Bagnald and Sir Eric Peacock in the important position. This year sees the 25th anniversary of WLB and Atul will support the board’s focus on celebrating business as a force for good in the area.
This is not the first time Atul’s business achievements have been recognised by WLB. Appt Corp has previously won the Franchise of the Year Award 2017 and the Community Investment Award 2018 at the West London Business Awards.
In addition to his business achievements, Atul is also involved in a range of community partnerships and charities, most notably Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). His restaurants donate a percentage of their sales to the charity as well as fundraising throughout the year. The Atul Pathak Community Awards – now in its sixth year – is an annual awards scheme designed to recognise and reward the excellent work that community groups do in their local areas. This year’s Community Awards will be held on June 19th on the Terrace of the Houses of Parliament, and Atul warmly invites groups to submit an application via the Appt Corp website when nominations open later this month.
Commenting on his appointment, Atul said: “Supporting WLB has always been a pleasure and I’m privileged to accept the role of Ambassador to support it further. West London is a great place to do business, that’s why I’m enormously proud to have founded my venture here and to continue to use it as my base.
“One of the really exciting things about the Ambassador role is that I will not only be able to promote business in the area, but also to highlight the broader advantages of a thriving business community and the environment. Business really is a force for good in West London and I’ll be tireless in making that case.”
WLB CEO Andrew Dakers said of Atul’s appointment:
“I’m personally delighted to welcome Atul as WLB Ambassador. West London Business and Appt Corporation share the same values of promoting ethical business growth and Atul’s personal track record of business and community engagement in West London makes him the perfect fit for the WLB Ambassador role.
“I look forward to Atul’s support and contribution to engaging our existing member base, local business leaders, fellow ambassadors and the WLB board to provide valuable insights on how we continue to raise West London’s business profile and global economic competitiveness.”
