Applications are now being accepted ahead of the 6th Atul Pathak’s Community Awards, with details available here. Atul Pathak OBE, Managing Director of Appt Corporation (pictured at the Community Awards last year with the Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP), set up the Awards in 2014 to help recognise and celebrate the often-unsung work of local charities and community groups. This year funding grants of up to £3,000 are available. The deadline for applications is Tuesday 30th April.
The Community Awards are open to charities and groups in communities local to McDonald’s restaurants run by Appt Corporation across West London and Berkshire. Successful applicants will receive their grants at the Awards’ event in the House of Commons on Wednesday 19th June. In addition to the awards, winners are offered a year-long partnership with their local McDonald’s restaurant offering them further support in running their organisation and initiatives. The overall Award amounts are £3,000, £2,000, £1,500, £1,000 and £500.
Atul runs Appt Corporation, the largest McDonald’s franchise in the UK, with 37 restaurants employing over 3,000 staff. In 2015 he was made an OBE in The Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to entrepreneurship. Atul was also appointed West London Business Ambassador in February this year, a role which promotes business across the region through engaging with local communities.
Commenting on the upcoming Awards, Atul said: “I’m delighted to announce applications are now open for the 6th Community Awards! Personally, I’m proud that they offer an opportunity for us all to take a moment to celebrate the work of local charities and community groups who are unsung heroes far too often.
“I have always placed social responsibility at the heart of my business. I’m excited to start seeing all the great applications coming through but I also know it’ll be a tough job choosing the winners because my experience of judging the Awards is that the quality is just so high! I wish all applicants the very best of luck.”
